There are a limited amount of prestigious and reputable screenwriting competitions. Wouldn’t it be interesting to pose the winners and finalists from all of these contests against each other, to further expose the creme of the crop of available screenplays?
ScriptDoctor.com’s “Contest of Contest Winners” invites screenwriters to enter works that have won or placed in a screenwriting competition during the past five years. Additionally, quarter-finalists, semi-finalists, and finalists in select screenplay competitions such as the Academy sponsored Nicholl Fellowships, Page, Austin, Screencraft, and Stage 32 contests are also eligible to enter. For a list of currently approved contests, refer to their Updated List of Qualifying Contests.
In 2016, Contest of Contest Winners (CCW) continues its partnership with two of the most successful film festivals of the last 10 years: the Sunscreen Film Festivals of Florida and Los Angeles—both supported by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.
Because of this partnership, contest finalists and winners will have access to literary agents and producers, as well as successful filmmakers in a special closed reception at the festival.
As is not the case with some contests, CCW Judges are actual working-industry professionals, including Script Doctor Howard Allen, Chris Haughom, Victoria Lucas and others. Every entrant receives 2 written evaluations from Judges’ panel members. This feedback (score sheet and coverage-style evaluation) is valued at more than $300, which certainly goes a long way in justifying the competition’s entry fee.
If you have enjoyed success in another screenplay competition, look into the Contest of Contest Winners and move your screenplay even further up the Hollywood ladder today!
