Fresh off the set of the hit comedy “21 Jump Street”, Channing Tatum is currently in talks to star in Columbia’s new action flick “White House Down”, which could go into production this summer.

Roland Emmerich is set to direct the D.C.-set thriller, which is based on James Vanderbilt’s spec script that the studio shelled out $3 million for just a few months ago.  Mr. Vanderbilt will also be producing, and is joined at the big-boy table by Bradley Fischer, Laeta Kalogridis and Harold Kloser.

The story follows a Secret Service Agent (and single dad, consider your heart strings tugged upon) who must save the president when the White House is taken over by a paramilitary group.  As you can well imagine, Channing’s chracter will have to fly solo with the odds stacked against him at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

It should be noted that a similarly-plotted project is in the works over at Millenium titled “Olympus Has Fallen”, with Gerard Butler attached to star.  With this much action currently slated for the President’s pad, Barack may want to consider raising the location rate on the oval office to help offset the deficit…
