“The Dark Knight Rises”, directed by Christopher Nolan, who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother Jonathan Nolan (and the story with David S. Goyer), is set to open July 20, 2012. This year’s most anticipated film is the third installment in Nolan’s Batman film series, and is a sequel to “Batman Begins” (2005) and “The Dark Knight” (2008). “The Dark Knight Rises” is intended to be the conclusion of the series. The film stars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy round out the cast as the villains in this buzz-laden DC Comic-based action flick.
Filming took place in numerous locations, including set ups in India, London, Glasgow, Los Angeles, New York, Newark, and Pittsburgh. It has been reported that Nolan utilized IMAX cameras for much of the filming to optimize the visuals of the production.
Inside sources have informed filmmatic.com that Nolan has screened a fine-cut of the project for the top Warner Bros. brass, including Production President Greg Silverman. No word on the studio’s reaction, but the trailer and Nolan’s track record would lead us to believe it will be a good summer for Batman fans everywhere.
