Comic-Con International, the country’s largest comic/pop culture convention, pops this week from July 12-15.

Comic-Con 2012 offers attendees the chance to do everything from acquiring autographs to giving blood.  Chat with Butch Patrick (AKA Eddie Munster), attend a Q&A session with the cast of “Dexter”, stroll down Artist’s Alley and meet your favorite comic creators.  Regardless of your specific nerd-needs, there is a fix in San Diego waiting for you.

Amongst a myriad of movie related media to be had at this years convention, film fans will find themselves face-to-face with the newly released poster for the Peter Jackson’s upcoming “The Hobbit” (see below).

Filming on “The Hobbit” recently wrapped, and the poster release was intended as a catalyst for already excited J.R.R. Tolkien fans heading to ‘The City in Motion” (Yes, San Diego).  Jackson stated on Facebook: “Hi, everyone. Here is an exclusive Comic-Con 2012 poster [for ‘The Hobbit’ movie!]”.  “Be sure to get your own copy in San Diego, and let me know what you think of it! Cheers, Peter J.”

“The Hobbit” will be split into two separate movies, one to drop in 2012, the other in 2013.  The first film’s release is set for U.S. theaters on December 14, and is titled “An Unexpected Journey”.  The second is named “The Hobbit: There and Back Again.”
