Screenwriters need exposure, a leg up. Filmmatic.com wants to attract active and passionate writers to its industry-networking platform. How to make both parties happy? An annual screenplay competition of course!
Filmmatic.com announced the first Filmmatic Screenplay Awards at the Sundance Film Festival in January of 2016. The competition is open to shorts, teleplays and feature-length works. Judging is broken down into the following categories: Action/Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Family, Historical, Science Fiction, Thriller/Horror, Short Film (all types), TV – Comedy, and TV – Drama. The Final Deadline to enter the inaugural competition is May 31, 2016, with results posting at the end of June.
The Filmmatic Screenplay Awards has attracted a quality group of sponsors for its first annual competition including InkTip.com, FilmBudgeteers.com, ScreenplayReaders.com, Dave Trottier (KeepWriting.com), and ScriptMailer.com. The annual competition will yield 10 Categorical Winners, one Overall Winner, and 100 Competition Finalists. In addition to the cash and prize packages, all entrants will receive an invite to Filmmatic.com’s annual Sundance networking event, “Monday on Main Street“.
The organizers of the competition are screenwriters, so they appreciate the hard work that goes into a finished script, and acknowledge how important it is to get a screenplay out into the correct hands once its ready. Go to ScreenplayAwards.org for more information or to enter your screenplay into competition.
