“Halo 4”, the first-person-shooter video game developed by 343 Industries for the Xbox 360 console, is the first installment in a new trilogy of Halo games, named the “Reclaimer Trilogy”. The game was released worldwide on November 6, with the exception of Japan where it was released on November 8. The game marks the return of the main protagonist, Master Chief, along with artificial intelligence construct Cortana (see hotty above).
“Halo 4” grossed $220 million on its launch day, with an estimated $300 million to come in its opening week, marking a new record for the franchise, which in total has broughtin $3+ billion in revenue.
Microsoft Studios Vice Pres. Phil Spencer stated “We’re thrilled that Halo 4 has emerged as the biggest U.S. entertainment launch of the year…”, knowing full well that the benchmark might be short-lived. Tomorrow Activision launches “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2”, which is expected to outsell its 343 Industries’ counterpart.
Happy gaming everyone. Don’t forget to play outside once in a while…
