Six-year-old Zachary had expressed to the Make-A-Wish Foundation his desire “to meet and become Hellboy.” The young boy is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia, and wished to spend a day with his big-screen hero.
Spectral Motion, the creature effects house that has brought to life the many other-worldly characters in “Hellboy” (2004) and “Hellboy 2” (2008), approached the 62 year old “Hellboy” lead with the concept, who “loved the idea and donned the makeup once more,” as per Spectral Motion on its Facebook Page.
Hellboy/Perlman surprised and delighted Zachary, who also got a chance to become a mini-Hellboy for the day. This was the second time in just a few weeks that the fine people at Spectral Motion teamed up with Make-A-Wish, having also all allowed another deserving young movie fan, Caleb, get a behind-the-scenes peek at the company’s animatronics from the X-Men and Fantastic for series.
Kudos to Perlman and Spectral Motion for their kindness (and Make-A-Wish of course).
