Fans were excited when it was announced that “The Hobbit” would be made into a movie, and that Peter Jackson (see below on-set) would once again be at the helm of a J.R.R. Tolkien driven project.  Then the announcement that “The Hobbit” would be broken up into two separate films followed. Now, as we understand it, Jackson would like to break “the Hobbit” up into three (3) separate films in order to “…tell more of the incredible tale…”.

Making the project into a trilogy would require a few extra months of shooting in New Zealand next summer as well as the introduction of a few extra Middle-Earth story-elements from Tolkien’s writings outside of “The Hobbit”.  Studio Warner Bros., Jackson and producers are in talks now to see if this can be worked out logistically, legally, and $ wise.

The first installment of the 2-or-3 movie series, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey:, is set to release Dec. 14th of this year.

Looking forward to them all, how ever many.
