Tony Scott, British born Hollywood Director, younger brother to Director Sir Ridley Scott, was pronounced dead shortly after hurling himself off the Los Angeles-area Vincent Thomas Bridge Sunday afternoon. (See Scott above, with Will Smith on the set of “Enemy Of The State”)
Witnesses reported seeing the beloved filmmaker and father of two parking his car near the bridge, and leaping off “without hesitation” around 12:30 p.m. L.A. time. Insiders assume that Tony’s battle with brain cancer and depression may have played a role in the unfortunate event.
The Bridge, which has been featured in a number of films including “The Fast And The Furious”, has been a known suicide spot in Los Angeles for some time.
Fans and colleagues are mourning the industry’s loss today, and many have taken to twitter to state their feelings. A suicide note was found in Scott’s production offices, and L.A. police are treating the incident as such. Tony Scott’s family has asked that their privacy be respected at this time.
Rest in peace Tony, you will be missed. – The filmmatic.com Staff…
